Our Curriculum Vision
Here at Cotgrave Church of England Primary School, we are shaping the future by building the foundations for a passion for learning and exploration and for nurturing caring and independent thinkers. Guided by our school vision—Learn, Include, Flourish Every Day—and our core values of thankfulness, respect, forgiveness, kindness, community and resilience, everything we do is rooted in the belief that every child deserves to flourish and live life to the fullest.
Through our exciting and enriched curriculum, we aim to inspire young learners to become confident scientists, poets, artists, explorers, readers, dancers, musicians and lovers of sports. Each lesson, activity, and initiative is carefully planned to help children excel in their own unique way. Our commitment to ensuring all children feel included and empowered reflects our deep Christian ethos, with the Bible verse “Life in all its fullness” from John 10:10 as our guiding principle.
We strive to create opportunities for every child to flourish, regardless of their background, context or starting point. Whether learning in the classroom, exploring the outdoors in Forest School, participating in residential trips or engaging in local and global community projects, we provide meaningful experiences that help children learn, grow, and thrive.
At Cotgrave, we understand the importance of equipping children with strong academic skills—becoming confident readers and mathematicians—while also instilling a strong sense of self-worth and purpose. Our curriculum is designed to inspire creativity and resilience, supporting every child to exceed expectations and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Our pupils’ voices are integral to the life of our school. Through roles such as playground leaders, pupil council representatives and buddies, children actively contribute to shaping their education and school environment. Educational visits and visitors further enrich our curriculum, connecting children with the past, present and future in dynamic and engaging ways.
As a Church of England school, our vision and values guide every decision we make and every lesson we teach. Our collective worship, policies and daily practices are deeply rooted in the principles of thankfulness, respect, forgiveness, kindness, community and resilience. These values remind us all of the importance of learning and growing together as a family. At Cotgrave, we believe that by living out these values every day, our children can truly experience life in all its fullness.
