  • Science- Autumn 1- 2025

In Year 5/6 science, we've been diving into the fascinating topic of life cycles and reproduction, exploring how mammals, birds, amphibians, insects, and plants grow and change throughout their lives. We've compared the stages of development across species—from metamorphosis in frogs and butterflies to the steady growth of mammals—and investigated how plants reproduce through pollination and seed dispersal. Using labelled diagrams, we identified key parts of a flower such as the stamen, stigma, and ovary, and even dissected real flowers to observe their reproductive structures first hand. These hands-on activities have helped us think like scientists, ask thoughtful questions, and understand the incredible diversity of life around us.
